Got a splodge on the back of the pads so i just painted them blue as well

I have left the drums black as i dont want them to stick out ;)

hammerite isn't heat resistant so will flake at high temps.

You sure mate, cos the radiator in my room has been painted with silver hammerite for years and i have never had it flake etc.

And ive been bombing about the last week or so and the brakes have been extremely hot, and its been fine.

I've seen loads of people on different forums who have used it and had no problems.

Time will tell though

If it flakes, thats an excuse to get some Coupe 20v Turbo Brembo's :p

Anyway, £5.99 from halfords for a small tin

Och well...

I might invest in some paint myself, what colours did they have? I would like some red. Did you take your wheels off simon to paint them? Possibly thats a stupid question...lol

Actually its not lol, I masked off the spokes and got a tiny wee brush and painted them with the wheels on.

Was easy for me because the spokes are far enough apart.

Yes this was another of Simons Bodged mods ;)

Yeh looks like a good job.

Im gonna get the proper heat resistant paint, you can get it from ebay 2-part red paint for under 18 quid. Gonna take the two front wheels off and do the calipers, and then let them dry. And do the 2 back drums.

Should turn out ok! Cheers for the idea simon!

Halfords have Hammerite heat resistant paint, even with the heat resistant paint it still comes off over time but it's normally cause of all the stones and **** on the road.

so if i got some red heat resistant paint from halfords that would do? And id need to give it a repaint every year or so?

Basicly yet, the best way to do it is to sand off all the paint with normal sand paper, paint the caliper/drum let it dry and hey presto, job done!

The ones on the Golf need repainted so when I can be arsed to buy paint and take off the wheels i'll do a "how 2"

Got some engine paint today from halfords, red only cost a fiver.

Took the wheels off to get a proper job done, so here is the results.

Dont look that great in the pictures, but it looks well nice with the black car, and the red showing through the alloys. Cheers for the idea simon.

But when i was putting a nut back on it snapped or so i thought but i had shreadded the thread on the nut. Had to get it off, what a pain in the arse, i was shitting it incase i needed a whole new front hub you know incase i arsed up the hubs thread aswell, but turned out fine! I had spare wobbly nuts!

That exact same thing happened to me with my locking nut.

I did the same thing with the bravo.... unfortunately I had to get a new hub, but it was only a fiver from the scrappy.

Stan kicks ass.

Yeh the worst that would have happened was need a new hub but thankfully it was only the nut!

I think they look nice with the black car!
