Currently colourcoding some marea handles for my bravo and the guide im following says after the lacquer has been applied leave the items for 24hrs before fitting them to they car.
is this right?
also i am a screen printer (print t-shirts etc) and have a dryer for drying t-shirt inks, it is basically a ceramic element that heats up to 200degrees. would it be a good idea to whack the painted handles under this (obviously not at full heat) to bake the paint and lacquer on?

FYI this is the guide im following:
https://www.fiatforum.com/bodyshop/101160-diy-colour-coding.html

Thanks in advance.

before you fit them get some 1400 wet n dry and lightly flat them with warm water then use a decent rubbing compound and rub them up then polish to your hearts content lol

cheers will do just starting paint pimed them and left them for an hour hope all goes well!
at halfords they had 2 reflex greens(391) so i hope ive got the right one aha!

how old is youre car? do you wax it often does it look faded in places?

also if you get acrilic paint make sure youre lacquer is acrilic too or it will react what .

also do you know what colour primer the car had because if you use different primers, no matter what you do it will nevr be exactly the same , i learnt this the hard way lol

The car is 10yrs old so im expecting the tones to be different, but hopefully not very noticable.
There are no faded patches in the paintwork.
I used a grey plastic primer have no idea what fiat use aha!

some times on small bits like that you will get away with it but if it was a panal you would have been better using 2pac as celulose and acrylic are sh1te in comparison

good luck anyway lol

Just put the handle against my car and the difference isnt noticable.
hope it stays this way ofter another coat and some lacquer.
Im getting new bumpers for my car and i feel im gona have to fork out at a body shop for that cos i want it too look good.
cheers for the advice.

PS. whats the best thing to use to get spray paint off my hand, accidentally gave myself a reflex green hand aha!

baby wipes lol honestly they work brill lol

make sure you give it atleast 5 coats leaving 15mins inbetween and probably about 15 coats of lacquer with 8-10 mins

15!!!! you sure?
the other guide says 2
and tbh they are looking pretty sexy at 2. will give them a couple more coats for sure and think ill leave lacquring til tomorrow.

thing is mate ure gunna want to flat them to rub and pollish and then theres the amount of time you will spend t- cutting her lol its all down to how safe you want it to be from burning the lacquer, you wouldnt believe how easy it is to rub through thats why with can paint its better to be safe than sorry lol

thats fair enough.
i've never used t-cut do you recoment i t-cut the handles before i put them on the car?
this is getting expensive aha!

i use a rubbing compound my mate gets me from his work but just go down to ure local motor spare and ask for sum cheap rubing compound and use that, but u will have to get no rougher than 1400 paper as it is metalic , use warm water with the compound as it seam tp soften the lacquer a touch for you to get a reall nice finnish, it is quite easy once you get the hang of it just take youre time with it and it will look like a pro has done it cos they will only do the same apart from the painting process wich theyed use 2 pac

i have some 1200 wet and dry will this be too course?
just give it a couple more coats then call it a day i think
really pleased with the outcome being my 1st mod (wit many more to come will get pics of my car up when its had some more work done to it :)

cheers for the help.
cal

no mate sos it would be ok for a straight colour but the lacquer would scratch, its not expensive, probably bout £1.50 a sheat but you wil ony need 1. dont use a rubbing block aswell cos u cud rub through if not careful but sounds like youve got it under control

hope it goes well anyway

ahh thats cool the 1200 paper will be used when spraying my bump strips and maybe my mirrors if i dont get new electric ones.
calling paint a day. will prob give it a few more coats tomorrow before lacquer.

just for the record, nail polish remover eats away at car paint. probelry carcenagenic though aha! hands somewhat clean now!
cal.

make sure you flat it down before you paint tomorow as the paint will have set lol
