Hi,

I've noticed a check engine light comes on my vehicle, I've looked at some posts here and it says to do a regen. Over the last 2 days, I've done 4 regen's by driving in 5th gear at 2500rpm. After these, I cleared the engine codes, and it drove fine for about 10 minutes before the light came on again. There is a loss in rev's above 3k rpm in 3rd gear when the light is on, but no such loss in revs when the light was off. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this issue or anything similar? Really hoping its not a huge job to the point where the DPF has to be removed.

I have a Fiat Punto Evo 2011 1.3 Diesel Multijet 73hp.

Also worth noting that I haven't had the car very long, about a month, But the economy is in line with the specs for this vehicle.

Any help is appreciated! thank you!

I am finding ever increasing small diesels with DPF/Regen issues, often caused by short stop start journeys around town.
What seems to hold it at bay is first a bottle of DPF cleaner in a tank full of fuel followed by a 30 mile drive with out stops on dual carriageway at approx 3000rpm (fourth or fifth gear but working hard pulling not coasting down hill) with engine at normal temp (90 degrees C) it may be necessary to repeat that once a month and roughly half a bottle of additive every full tank of fuel.
Incidentally engine thermostat must be working, if engine temp stays only a third up on gauge it will add to the problem.
Also only doing the Regen drive for a few miles is not enough to get the DPF really hot so it can self clean.
Had to do this recently on a VW golf Plus 1.6 2010, fine after that.
Salesmen should tell customers modern small diesels are not for town use pottering about!
