HELP.... A new head gasket in Italy a couple of years ago, new radiator, new water pump last week, and I'm still overheating in traffic...

My Uno 70, 1987 gets up to 110mph without pain when abroad. SHow it traffic or mountains and it starts getting hot. The fan does kick in but I cannot get it to maintain a steady temp on normal road traffic.

CAN ANYONE suggest something...PLEASE...

Hi, I drained the cooling system last week, AGAIN, and topped it up with some Holts coolant that was made for the Arab market. It says the 5lt bottle can be used in full for up to 20lt of coolant. It seemed fine but I don't know what the OK mix is to be on the safe side. I know you can get a special coolant to drop by 30 degrees, so I'm thinking I can't do damage as I'm looking to stop the heat!! I'd understand the probs of running too cold due to coolant, but this is the reverse...surely??

Does the temp come down when the fan kicks in? Does the fan then go off once the temp has gone down?

Temp goes down after fan has been on a while. If stuck in traffic, the fan might be on constantly.

Do as Trev says, mix 50/50. This is not just to save the block at -30C, but it also makes the boiling point of the coolant higher.
