My Bravo 80sx is driving me to despair - It used to have int choke problems and stall. Took to Fiat who made an adjustment - Now Int Choke, over-revs..Fiat being totally unhelpful. What is wrong with my car ?
What did Fiat adjust to increase revs ? Talk is of the Idle Control Value - is it easy to clean/replace..
Please help I am getting sooo depressed

revs

When you say over revs? does it do it all the time or does it eventually sort itself out?

Re: revs

Revs when in traffic situations - Will idle at 800 and then increase to 2000 and fluctaute around that mark eventually dropping again to 800. Will then increase again intermittantly

idle probs

The 80SX comes with a pretty fault prone idle valve (it's sometimes called idle actuator but don't let the various names confuse you). Lots of owners have needed theirs changed so it's a strong bet your does too.

Mine needed changing after 6K and it has a rock steady idle after that at 800rpm. You haven't got a "choke" as such as the ECU does it all but I know what you mean by the engine faltering and dying particularly when warming up. That's more like the symptoms of the idle valve fault.

Idle vale is about £60 and a doddle to replace. Just 3 allen bolts and a 10 minute job. (The idle revs do bounce up a bit if you have just done something like move the steering or changed gear but should settle pretty quick to 800rpm when warm).

Sounds as if Fiat might have remapped the ECU (which I highly recommend) but it has mismatched with the Idle Valve and gthey can't tune it down. The exact same thing happened to me. They couldn't "tune in" the idle valve after that it had to be replaced.

Infuriating I know but it's great when it's done.
