Hi can anyone help with my 2005 Multipla?
I've a weird problem. The outside Temp Sensor sometimes goes mad. Most days it's ok but on some it will read -30 or more then creep up slowly to the correct temp. It has also gone to+ 30 or above slowly going down. The highest I've recorded is +66 and lowest -66.
Sometimes it happens on sharp bends in the road.
I also have the dreaded "Air Con Fault" come up every so often, then it's ok for days.
Is there a wiring problem? It did work ok when I first bought it.
How do you disconnect the socket at the door to check the wiring?
Thanks for your help.
Frank

The easiest way to check is to remove the drivers side wing mirror. The temp sensor is the little bump on the far outer/lower edge of the mirror housing. Two of the 9 wires at the mirror connector plug (located behind the grey plastic cover on the cabin side of the door, directly inboard of the mirror itself) are for the sensor. Think they are black and white?

A meter across the two sensor wires will give you a resistance value. I can do the same on mine if you need a reference reading.

Sounds like a hammer job to me...
Amen to that (y)

I've never understood the need for a temp display in a car.
Unless you're doing a non-stop cross-Continent drive, the temperature outside the car will be roughly what it was when you first got in.

If you really have to know, you can open the window a little...

The temp display on the trip computer is a 'freebie' courtesy of the climate control. Climate needs an external temp reading to compare to the one for interior, so that it can work out what to do to get to target temperature. The trip computer display just taps in to this info.
