Bad news before xmas.

Had a loss of power from the dearly beloved JTD and took her to a diesel injection specialist. Says injectors are shagged and 1 is shut down and causing a misfire - £227 per injector to refurb and with 5 to do it is looking like I need to think twice. Have currently asked for only 1 to be replaced.

Being a novice mechanic - does this sound reasonable? can I get some second hand injectors?

Been wanting a coupe for a wee while and it looks like trade in time.

Some good advice would be appreciated

Dave

Cheers for the link.

Yes it is basically same lump as the alfa.

Spoke to the guy at united diesel and he gave good advice that it is v unusual for all of the injectors to be a problem but would do for £130 per injector.

Time for a few words with the local guy.

Great thing the internet.

Keep you posted.

just replace it yourself. get a set of injectors from a scrap car (£5 each usually). take them all so you have spares. finding a scrap jtd wont be the easiest thing in the world, but it will save you a fortune.

Aye - I can't believe they've all gone at the same time. Sounds more like an ECU or sensor glitch - maybe even a air flow meter?
Hope all goes well ;)

Dont worry, Ive used a very tried and tested Diesel specialist and they are professinonal, cheaper than fiat and have amazing equipment. They will fix your injector and can even test it all four on a controlled enviroment test bench and new injector is about £130.00 incl vat but its highly unlikely it will be all four??!!!

Labour is £60 per hr!

ps they only specialise in bosch, standyne, racor and turbo diesel specilaists even marine engines!!!
they fixed my fuel leak which was pissing out of the high pressure rail!

tis a 5pot :yum:

£227 is obscene.

There is an american company I think that refurbs injectors for petrol cars, works out something like £30 each incl postage back.

not sure if the JTD injectors are weird and fangled though, I would assume they would just be big bosch jobs that sit in a few o rings then into the fuel rail?

After tackling him - nearly by the throat - paid £120 for one injector to be refurbed ( including the nozzele?!? ). They are expensive Bosch ones that I did verify with Uniteddiesel.

Got apology and waiver on labour charges after threatening trading standards.

Now on the hunt for a 2.4 Jtd thats been scrapped ( wonder if the alfa uses the same part - anybody in the know?)

Will bear in mind the wimbeldon garage - cheers.

Pulling much better though - great car lives on Hurray!

if its £120 to recon, how much was a new one? surely it would be cheaper, bosch injectors for my car cost less than that new, and on ebay they're only £50 new. i know diesel ones are less common but its still just an electronically controlled valve.
