I wonder if someone can help me...

My mothers car won't start...

There was a problem with an earth on the fuel pump, which i have now fixed (i think)

I turns over but seems like there's no fuel...

I pulled of the pipe on the front of the injectors and the fuel is now coming through fine (after fixing the earth)...

I have checked to see if there is a spark, all 4 are fine, spark plugs look in good nick...3 months old...

When it turns over, it seems very smooth and no sign of life :(

Can anyone help me?

what sort of engine is it? is it new with everything done by the ecu or older?

Its a P reg 1.4 cough Daewoo Nexia...

Everything runs through the ECU as far as i know...

But i am confused as there is fuel & spark, but no sign of combustion...lol

imobilisor

I had wot sounds like a similar problem wi my old car. turned out to be a loose wire from the imobiliser.
just a thot though!

Re: imobilisor

Thats what i thought it was as first, but it has supposed to have been disconnected by an autoelectrician over a year ago as it was playing up...

...and i thought (maybe wrongly) that the immobiliser cut the power to the fuel pump? (thats why i checked the fuel pump)

Checked the belts are they seem fine, all pulleys are moving...

How do i check for compression? (can i remove a spark plug and stick my finger in the hole?...lol)

Daz

Are the spark plugs getting wet with petrol? Crank it over and take one out.

Already looked at the spark plugs, they are all dry...

Look as new as they could do really, with a bit of soot/oil on one, but not much...

Any other idea's, as i need to get this sorted before i get my Bravo back, i don't mind lending her the prelude, but no way am i risking her drive my Bravo...lol

Sorry for the long delay, i had a few software problems on my PC.

I will have to re-check the plugs just in case, as there was an hour or two before i removed them...and any petrol that was on them, had probably evapourated...

Cheers Tom

Yep, i wouldn't say wet, but they are pretty damp...

Anything else...?

timing seriously out?

you havent had the spark plugs out and put the leads back on in the wrong order or something?

If it was getting fuel and spark you'd most likely still get some sort of bang or pop even if the timing was WAY out.

Not a flicker...lol

The leads are all different lengths, so they are near imposible to get wrong...even for me :)

There isnt much fuel in the car, does petrol seperate when stood? (around 2 months)

Daz

May be a silly idea, but would it be worth getting some fuel and trying to light it?
