its chaning my home page to a diffrent site than default, and a little message at the bottom keeps sayng your pc is infected anddddddddd it keeps bringing up a spyware remover doing a scan then asking me to buy, basiclly just pissing me right off lol

Do a search for Browser Hijack removal software. That might get you sorted :)

hi,
Uninstall you current spyware sweeper thats asking you to buy it.
Next, go to http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10122137.html and try spybot- search and destory.
Its free and if you use the 'Tea-Timer' it will auto protect both your computers registry and your host file (this is the file your homepage is address stored).
When installing stuff it will bring up messages asking do you want to allow - say yes to stuff then but if it brings up stuff when you are not altering settings/ installing stuff click no and it should protect your system from unwanted alterations.

You can also use it to scan your computer and remove spyware/adware.

2 other programs I recommend are Adaware (there is a free edtion) and AVG Free virus scanner (if you don't already have one). You may have a virus that reinstalls the adware after you remove it so makesure you scan for viruses as well.

Hope this helps,
Stephen

i had this one, tried everything even trying to manually delete it from the registry (as advised by Ian) but nothing would get rid of it, spybot detected it but could not remove it, in the end i had to end up wiping the drive and starting again :(, however since then i installed Avast! and its really good software and its free too

cheers for the comments, as i said before ive used every spyware remover known to man including spybot as lozz said it finds it but doesnt actually get rid of it even if you run it before windows starts. the only thing i can think is that theres an undectectable progg on my pc that when you remove the spyware and restart windows the proggram starts with it and puts the spyware back on your pc, might not be like but doin my head in all the same lol. sounds like im goin to have to format the fooking thing

oh well thankx again for your sggestions

What's the url of the homepage?

Once you have this go to microsoft boards and search it.

The same happened to me once and I downloaded a little program which fixed it. Can't for the life of me remember its name though.

There's a few of these around, what is coming up in the address bar on the page it's setting your homepage to.... is it "about:blank" ?

I think my one was called Fraudian.exe and the file that it would not get rid of was CHILD.DLL

I had exactly the same problem. Do a search for a removal program called "Hijack This". Ran that and it sorted the problem in a jiffy. :)

I have found that if you type into Google specific details about the problem, I.e. web address it directs you to, popup messages, etc, it sometimes comes up with removal instructions.
I once had a popup that would not go away. All it said was 'funk' but the message bar at the top said 'actulice'. I typed 'actulice' 'funk' into google and it took me to a site which told me a specific registry keyto delete. I did this and Ive never seen the pesky thing since! :)
Hope this helps

re

as above - type it into google,

you will normally find someone else who has had it and found out how to remove it!

i suspect you missed somethign in the registry and it will put everythign back in.

or when you delete it from the registry if you go straight back in has it come back? you may have to change ownership of the key to allow yourself to delete it?

and make sure you manual delete everythgin from your temp folder before you restart etc
