Sorry to bother you all but was wondering if anyone could advise me on solutions to the following problems I am having with my internet browser:-

1) When I go to websites, the screen shows what I last viewed (the day before for instance) and I have to manually refresh the screen to update things. Fo example, when I log on to this forum tomorrow the top post will be from the night before and it's only when I refresh the screen that things are up to date. It's not a major problem it's just really annoying.

2) Pop Ups. Despite having pop up blocker turned on I still get quite a few annoying pop ups which advertise dating sites, mobile ring tones, poker sites, etc. This is very annoying.

I've had my current PC since Sept 06 and connect to the net using Tiscali broadband. The PC came with McAfee and Norton software but not sure if this is up to date.

Any advice that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys.

Try clearing down your cache by deleting Temporary Files & Cookies. You can do this in Internet Options within IE.

Also, get a decent browser like Avant, Mozilla or Safari. These will all add extra pop up protection and security.

forget Internet Explorer, try downloading Firefox.i've been on Firefox for about 3 years, and no pop ups, viruses or any 5h1t!!also making sure your anti-virus and firewall are up to date, and updated on a weekly basis.i'm using AVG free edition as anti-virus, and the Windows firewall. go to www.download.com, there you'll find everything you need.i was once told by a PC geek, that majority of viruses, trojans etc are written to attack Internet Explorer, and that the other browsers aren't affected.nothing to loose...

To get a page to automatically refresh in Internet Explorer...

1. Open a browser window.
2. Click Tools, Internet Options
3. In the General Tab you should see a 'Settings' button near the Temporary Internet Files option or Browser History.
4. Once in 'Settings' you should see several options regarding Stored Pages. Click on Automatically. Then Apply and try opening a new page.

Alternatively same approach but select 'Every visit to the page'.

In Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu, select Internet Options...
The Internet Options dialog box appears.

Select the General tab

In the Temporary Internet files section, click SETTINGS...
The Settings dialog box appears.

In the Settings dialog box, from the options, select Every visit to the page

Click OK
You are returned to the Internet Options dialog box.

Click OK
The dialog box closes and your settings are updated.

Hope this helps you out.
