Now I'm in a thoughtful mood and am contemplating selling BOTH my Coupe and Stilo in favour of 1 car.

I don't need to sell, but can't help but think it would be a prudent decision in the long term. Business is good and I'm on a good wage so no worries on that front (for a change).

Question is, what to buy? I'd allocate roughly £4-5k, maybe more to the purchase but would need to somehow combine the benefit of both my Coupe and Stilo as follows:

> Reliability (stilo)
> Mint bodywork (stilo)
> Power (coupe)
> Space including boot space (stilo)
> Great looks (coupe)
> Nice sound (coupe)
> A little bit different (coupe)
> Modern build quality (stilo)
> Alarmed (stilo and coupe)
> 3 door (stilo)

Not all of these requirements HAS to be met, but more boxes ticked the better.

Running costs need not be 'economical' but nothing less than 25mpg, so it needs to be in the realms of sensible.

Italian not essential but preferred!

Current thoughts so far are:

> Alfa 147 2.0 Lusso (150 bhp)
> Alfa 147 1.9mjet (140bhp)
> Fiat Stilo 2.4 Abarth/Schumacher (170bhp)
> Ford Focus ST170
> Audi A3 2.0 FSI (150bhp)

There are pros and cons for all of the above, but I just don't know where/what to be thinking. Chances are, I should be looking elsewhere. I just don't know.

Any suggestions or experiences most welcome :)

may be totally off here but I was looking for a new'ish estate a while ago and wanted power with good mpg and something different & reliablilty...

Found a chrylser 300C and it fitted the bill perfectly, but didn't buy it in the end due to no £££'s

The 3L v6 diesel is pushing 200+bhp and an average of 35mpg. Loads of space, looks different to everything on the road and from all the reviews they are really reliable!

only downer is it is a bit more than you wanted to spend but it defiantly is different!

sorry forgot to give reasons.

1:
Stylish, quite new and cool interior

2:
Engine will see 200bhp simply by adding an airfilter lol

3:
will do 30mpg

4:
Quite cheap to insure for over 25's

No other car in its class can match your needs aswell as the civic in my eyes it is also hugely practical with it been a hatchback.

Insy.....

Dont get a st170... you will regret it, my mate did the same last year and bought a st170n aftre a hgt, he hates it and is back up for sale, he is after a alfa 145 now to be different,

Have you thought about the skoda octavia vrs? stylish, german build quality, and very quick, or a fabiz vrs looks smart 4 doors diesel and quick.

for my money i would go with mick... but also a few of my own

civic type r
accord type r
skoda octavia vrs
fabia vrs
seat leon cupra
stilo schumacher
alfa 147
or my all time fave

Fiat Marea Weekend 2.0 20v HLX 147 83k and so far so good!

Just got a 147 Lusso 1.6. Notice a bit of difference to the HGT but not as much as I thought I would as its only 120 bhp. Think a 2.0 would be the next choice though. Really nice car to drive and comfortable as well on longer journeys.

how about an astra sri 150bhp diesel(quicker than the fabia vrs 2003-2007), in either 3 door, 5 door, or estate and you don`t see as many of those, and before anyone laughs,

its bloody quick for a diesel,
easily gets 45-55mpg, great for motorway when in sixth gear
can pick a decent one up for 4-5k
(got mine on a 56 plate 5 door hatch for 5200 and loads of service history)
estate has tons of space,
hatch is good too, even with a pram in the boot and baby seat in the back seat,
stereo has bluetooth built in, steering wheel controls,
and also the famous `sport` button for when you want to be more adventurous behind the wheel
and you can tune the diesel to get more bhp out of it so yout not limited

Bravo GT Status: Gone and unknown since February 2008
But never forgotten!
HURRAH! for diesel power 150bhp comin right at ya!

Inclined to agree with OZ, that is by far the best option.

Have you noticed insy, since you got rid of the bravo, you've been looking for a different car ever since?
