I'm coming down to the Isle of Sheppey soon for a few days camping with the family and wondered if you could recommend some good places for family day trips that won't break the bank. I've already seen Diggerland and can't wait to get my little boy down there ! Bit pricey though

Anything else you can recommend that's close and cheap ?

Really good zoo, a bit far from Sheppy but close to Canterbury so maybe a half day each kind of jobby.

Quite simply the most beautiful castle in England, some say in the world.
More picnic action to be had, not a huge amount for sproggs tho.

More choo-choo action also a good way to get from groombridge place to Tunbridge wells

picnics ahoy and if the kids get annoying you can drown them easily or chuck em in a boat and steal the oars.

I can highly recomend you dont do much on the Island, mainly cos theres sweet fa to do!

well thats a lie, but theres not a huge amount. most of the beaches are pebble, bar one which is called Shellness for a reason... there are plenty of places to walk around and theres the bird sanctuary but other than that, your about done!

Andy, we're staying at Warden Springs, which is a campsite near Leysdown. Right by the beach apparantly.

yep, know it very well, used to live at that end of the island, now im a bit further along towards the main town (not that the island is very big mind!)

If you want a good pub for grub on the Island, try either the Harty Ferry inn (tucked well out of the way on the Warden Road) or the Playa (on Minster Beach, where I live)

If you want I can show you where both the pubs are or help you with navigating the Island.
