Ok, so i have figured out how i am going to hook up my freeview box and dvd player to a lcd computer monitor but i dont know how i'm going to get sound from this, any ideas?

How are you connecting them to the monitor? As far as I know, you have to buy a scart to vga converter box which costs around £100.

They don't work properly . They can be dangerous too, depending on how you use them. They can blow the VGA port on your monitor, and the scart output on your freeview/dvd.
Been there done that. The only decent way to do it as far as I know is to use something like this:

You can try it They've come down in price since I last looked. They used to be about 30 quid.
As for sound, the cable should split off to 2 phono connections. You can get a 2 phono to 3.5mm jack adapter from Maplin that will let you plug it straight into your pc speakers.
If it works, I'll buy one myself and paypal you money for a pint

The scart to vga cable. A few inches up the cable from where the vga connector is, it should split to 2 phono connectors.

Like I said, you might as well try that cable from ebay. It could work. I know that when I looked a couple of years ago, I was told they don't work too well. For 3 quid its worth a go though.
