General Original Subwoofer box

General Original Subwoofer box

Yeah, I think fitting the connecting cable through the car is going to be so much trouble that it is worth waiting and looking in to doing the job properly.

I need to look at all the options. Could I just have 2 speakers powered by the head unit? or would that be pretty pointless?

I guess an amp could sit under the seat maybe. The more I think about it, the more I feel it does need the sub too. I just want to buy some kit as cheap as I can off Ebay because I can't really splash out on this stuff.

Most the work is getting all your stereo wiring in correctly and that's what takes all the time and effort. I picked up a load of secondhand stuff off ebay as I never had the money for top quality speakers but I wanted to make a start. Now all the hard work is done I can swap over the amps and speakers when I have the money with little extra work.

Nicholas,

I removed the amp and speakers from my sub box - like doc says they're shockingly bad quality. I just replaced them with two infinity reference speakers wired straight to the headunit. Together with the infinitys in the footwells and door tweaters the sound is great even on the motorway with the roof down and it looks completely stock. You do need a powerful headunit though - mine is a Sony with 4 x 50 watts.

I have a Sony 50 x 4 head unit. I may try the same thing. If I am going to the trouble, it may be worth fitting a sub too. Is it worth fitting one without an amp, directly to the head unit or is that not worth it?

Someone on here fitted one in the boot, in the spare wheel compartment - I would like to know how that sounds - probably here it outside the car though.

Thanks for the advice. Its good to know what other people have done.

you can fit a sub in here easy !! and only cost about £80 also good as wind breaker.

That does look pretty good Rengen.

One more question re- fitting Fiat speaker box. Am I right in saying that there are 5 screws to fit it on to the bulkhead? Will I need to drill holes and how many bolt do I order from Fiat?

 wow... it looks great. he could add "saddle bags" also; some pockets. is that your? more pictures?

No F4ust, its not mine. I find thin on net because i liked the construction.
Maybe some day i'll do the same...and when .... a lot of pictures of course!

I am trying to install a Fiat speaker box. My B has no holes drilled to fasten the box - I peeled the material covering the bulkhead back to check. Can anyone shed any more light on where I need to drill and whether I need to order the bolts from Fiat or can I use something else?

Also a number of the plastic rivet / push fasteners are missing (or I destroyed them), does anyone know where replacements can be bought?

there have to be 5 holes, small 3 for rivets and 2 big for probably speaker box. i removed that cover and will fit custom one, because old one is worn out and broken and looks bad. (now i don't even have metal plate behind seats... i can hear murmuring petrol and whistle of fuel pump)

you (we) need this: also need those for door trim... will try to search in eBay probably have one hand of those for few pounds.

Thanks F4usT, I have emailed that site to ask if they would sell a small quantity. Not looking forward to drilling the B. Will order the bolts from Fiat.

If anyone else has any more info or pictures showing speaker box fitting - it would be appreciated.

Yer i agree, does look good. (y)

just arrived back into cyprus today, so will getting stuck in with my B modifications.

I will be making a new rear speaker box, but will use component speakers over just one sub, with decent front speakers and some more rear fill the B's sound system can be greaty improoved. will post up pic's once i get started.
