Hi guys.

Just put my P reg 1.4 thru it's MOT and it failed on a N/S corroded inner rear brake pipe.

Is this much of a job? I'm your average mechanic and can get by on most things, except engine rebuilds lol. Had a look at the repair guide but I can't see anything written about this problem.

Thanks.

Dale.

think the pipes themselves are cheap as chips but fitting them takes a while. Presume you'd have to bleed the braking system then fit.

I would consider getting the ones that dont corrode fitted. More expensive but better long term

Fitting the pipe itself is simple enough. If you know how to bleed it then you should have no probs. Be a couple of pounds for the pipe

Cool, thanks for the replies.

Just been under the car and it looks like it's the pipe that goes up and over the rear axle.

I was hoping it would be the one that is directly behind the drum. More fiddliness to come eh?

I need to read up on bleeding a braking system, never done that before.

Cheers,

Dale.

You can buy a non-return pipe from any motor shop for a pound, you can do the job yourself then. It allows you to pump the pedal without any air getting back into the pipe . Keep the tank topped up and keep pumping for 6 or 7 strokes then tighten bleed nipple and try the brakes. If they are spongy ,do it again. Better with 2 people or an "eezee-bleed". That works off a low air pressure off the tyre.all you do with that is look at the end of the pipe for bubbles close bleed nipple when bubble-free
