Hi Guys can you help or provide some much needed advice.

Sometime ago i bought my darling Blue 1.8 HLX Bravo very low mileage with Abarth kit and nice wheels on a X plate happens it was a repo.

The only problem was that there was only 1 key (blue) i spoke to Fiat and as other posts have indicated would cost upto £1000 for replacement keys and ecu and what ever else.

Well i have found company who are braking a bravo 1.8 HLX and there willing to sell the full lock set with red and blue keys, ecu and ingnition ecu to me dirt cheap.

How do i go about getting this fitted and how much will this cost. Bearing in mind i can probably do the locks myself.

Whats the point? I'm sure it's Timpsons who can cut the blue key with no problems. The only problem arises is if you lose your blue keys and are left with the red, as FIAT are the only ones who can make copies from that.

Hi Chris,

Would that be Timpsons of Manchester (www.timpson.co.uk). Are they able to cut the Blue key to code because i was told you need the red key to do that????

i only had 1 key and just went down to the nearest key cutters and got a new 1 made up

Give them a ring Karl :)

The red key is for re-programming the ecu or something and it can only be done whilst in the ignition or something. That's why they reccommend you don't use it for every day driving as it can mess the whole system up.

I looked into it ages ago and my memory is fading, but it goes something along those lines.

Chris,

Nice one, i just rung them (got 2 Timpsons local to me)and they can cut a coded key providing on the metal near the blue plastic there is only a symbol and not a number aswell so fingers crossed when i check my key ill just have a symbol......

What would i do without the BOO.

Cheers Chris......

On my 1.8hlx blue key I've got a symbol on 1 side and a number on the other!

Would Timpsons be able to make a copy of my RCL coded blue key?

Hi Tommy,

When i spoke to the guy at Timpsons he did say a number next to the symbol not on the other side, I'll take my key in tmoz and check though so I'll update this thread with the outcome.

Good luck Karl and keep me posted as I'm guilty of only having 1 blue lol. BTW I have a single letter followed by 3 numbers on one side and a symbol on the other :s lol. Although, the symbol in question looks like a triangle that transmitting something.

my blue key snapped in the barrel. a local company copied the pattern off the red key,and took the immobilizer chip from the blue key and stuck in a blank spare. with a bit of patience, he got the stump out of the barrel.i trimmed the stump off the original blue key and use only to open the car, and use the new blue key to start the car.best thing, only cost be £50!!!!most locksmiths can do this job

I only had i blue key when i got my car, when i spoke to the man at fiat he said i had to take it to them and it would cost £700. I went to a couple of places and they couldnt do anything went shopping in Bury, walking through the market and theres a key place on there and the bloke copied mine for £25 and it works fine

Like a lot of people on BOO. bought the car with one blue key only, Had one cloned from that,£25 no problems, I use the clone every day

Hi All,

Thanks for the input....

Now my blue key does not have a symbol or number on it at all????

I'll still take it to the key place tmoz and see what happens!

Possible it might already be a clone as when i bought the car it was a repo.

Its been said a dozen times. SIYF!

basically, they can clone a blue bravo/brava/marea key no problem....
