The car runs thanks to Toms crankshaft sensor idea. But the engine is only firing on three cylinders. I've checked spark plug etc etc, ht lead etc. We think it MIGHT be the injector. The injector light is on and the spark plug is black and the others aren't. How do I go about cleaning this injector to get the cylinder firing again? Or am I going dowwn the wrong track here?

Any help is appreciated,

Craig S.

thanks tom for a proper answer. so no performance gain then

Not on an engine where the other 4 injectors are capable of supplying enough fuel. Too much fuel = less power.

The problem with that is the other 4 old injectors are just as likely to be blocked now that the inlet manifold has been off and messed with. The reason why we had to take the inlet manifolds off each engine was due to the stupid fuel in tube going under it with a bolt under the manifold meaning it was impossible to get off otherwise. So my blocked injector is likely to have been caused by us, it was probably working fine until we took the manifold off! But we had no choice. Is it worth trying some of this injector cleaning fluid stuff or not? If so any recomendations of which to use would be appreciated.

Its not blocked, its ****ED, broken, nackered, no good, its an ex-injector ;) Bin it. use the other ones.

Injectors have filters in them to stop grot blocking them when you handle them. They ain't as delicate as people think.
