General On any Sunday........

I just used to give it death in every gear untill the run was over, never had a rev counter in the pop:p
Practice does definately help, keep chipping away, you'll soon see a 16 soon I reckon - then you'll want a 15..............and thats the drag racing bug !!!!!

If it was carbed thats what I'd have done :D but I know the ecu has a rev limiter and time spent against it costs time:rolleyes: And, yes, I've got the bug, I can smell the 16.

Nice one Damon. I'm going drag racing for the first time this Sunday at Long Marston. You have given me a benchmark! I will take it as-is, without removing anything I think.

You should hit the high 16's no problem, the main thing holding me back is me(y) With your better ratios, extra power and sprint experience it'll be low 16's ;)

You reckon I got better ratios? Hard to know what the difference actually is due to your larger wheels and my standard size ones. Mine is nice and tall, which is great for the road, but I won't get out of 3rd gear on 1/4 mile I reckon. I do bang on 20 MPH for every 1000 RPM in 5th according to sat nav. Very handy as I don't have a speedo.

Interesting watching that, damon - have you run the car at any other strips? The reason I say is, after seeing the surface you were racing on, no wonder you had wheelspin !! Its normal practice at a dragstrip to run on tarmac rather than concrete, to which they add 'track glue' (which smells lovely !) Is it worth running your car somewhere like Shakespeare county raceway where theres some decent track prep? P.S. Lewey - I may be there sunday with my shiny new press pass, grabing some of the action.
