Been working on Sid the Sisley to get him ready for the Camping meet...

Too many jobs now done to list...but...and this is a BIG BUT....

Put the Gearbox back in after putting in a new clutch....conected all the gear change rods and put it into gear to roughly adjust the clutch cable.

The front of the car is on axel stands..so while its in gear i go to turn the hub....

IT BLOODY WELL TURNS!!!!....Slacken the cable right off and...IT STILL BLOODY TURNS!!!...The gearbox is engaged and the hubs are free wheeling????????

Please please please...can anyone work out whats wrong????:bang:

Helppppppppppp....kev

Try getting someone to act as a brake on one wheel while you turn the other and see if there's still no resistance. You might be panicking needlessly.

Thanks...quite likely im in a panic....ive spent so much time on the car and after a hot day and getting so near to completion im just very worried..

Surely though if its in gear it would be very hard to turn the hub as the crank/pistons would be bought into play!!!???

If you rotate one of the wheels, the other should rotate in the opposite direction, because the diff is averaging out the forces at work. With no resistance on either wheel, the effort is contained within the system. If you drop one wheel to the ground and turn the other that torque hs to go somewhere and the driveline will go backwards to the crank and start turning stuff. I'm not explaining it very well, but I think [hope I'm right} that's what's happening. Reckon you'll be fine when you drop it on the deck(y)
If I'm wrong I owe you a pint!
