got a couple of these, anyone know of a charity that makes use of them? seems a waste to just chuck them away

i can't think of any use for them, try looking under recylcing instead
All the places I know make you pay to take them away!

Charity places wouldn't even take them. the charity we use to remove oldish computers have a minimum spec of Pentium 3-4 1Ghz 256mb of RAM, 20Gb HDD and Windows 2000.
Local Civic Amenaty (sp?) site should have a skip for electronic type stuff - dump them there and they'll recycle them

they very small hard drives in them
Take them to the tip and they'll be recycled for the metal in the case and boards. Best use for them. Charities don't want crappy old computers as it uses up their most important resource - time. I would imagine with charity status and grants they can probably get brand new PCs for under £200 which come with warranty, supported OS and work quickly.

Unfortunately our modern lives are wasteful. And what hellcat says is totally true.
Even if you do find a charity who will take them, if it's under 600mhz CPU they'll just scrap it and weigh the scrap in, if they are anything like FM...
old pcs are good for nothing. well maybe nostalgia. still got an olivetti 486 win 3.1 machine. it runs wolfenstien 3D!!!
