Technical Oil

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could tell me what oil is best to use in our 500. It has a 650cc engine from a 126. Most places I've found say 15w/40 semi synthetic, however we spoke to another local 500 owner and he said SAE30 or 20w/50 mineral. We have some 15w/40 so will that be ok?

We always used 20/50 - in those days GTX (or Duckhams if no GTX). The GTX always left the inside of the engine as clean as a whistle with no carbon buildup.

Halfords do a Classic Car Oil, which is a 20/50 multigrade made to the same spec as oils produced in the 60's / 70's / 80's

It also contains a swell sealant which they claim helps to prevent oil leaks.

isn't that a bit hopefull with a 500 !!!!

Note the careful use of words....... "helps" to prevent... which means it may in reality do absolutely nothing.... :devil:

Our 500 doesn't have any oil leaks as far as I am aware We ended up putting in the 15w40, seems to be fine. Thanks for your help everyone
