I've got an old van which i top up with compressor oil from work lol, smoking:)

In the car or while cooking? If either then you have missed off vegetable oil. :p

If in the car then in engine or fuel tank? If either you have missed off Shell Diesel extra :p

If in the car as an engine oil then which car? I have two on very different oils. Tipo is on 5W40 fully synthetic millers XFS. Marea once its due will be on fully synthetic Millers XFD for modern turbo diesels (not sure of the W rating).

The next oil i will be using is either - Castrol Edge 0W-30 which will be £42 just for the oil , or Castrol GTX Magnatec 10W-40 (only £20).

0W 30 is far too thin for our climate, why are you using that.

Bad choice, dont use GTX, dont know about Edge but my father used GTX on all his customers cars for a month, and around 90% came back with oil leaks, hot running, head gasket failure, lots of smeg in the cap, smokey etc. its like the oil is cursed :( i mite not change our view on it but i would hate to see an old panda destroyed by it, for be it, any car really (aside a new ford :p )

Castrol GTX is the best. it cant cause leaks or headgasket failures or blockages. thats common sense. they were caused by something else. dont blame the oil.

It was the recommended choice from the Castrol website, but i am not using it just yet, i am currently using GTX magnatec 10W-40 (i seem to have more oil leaks now though :(). I think i will just start using Selenia 20K from now on :)

Yes, you too have tried this on over 200 different cars\lorries\tractors? But got different results oviously, must've been a bad batch of several barrels and an incompetant 35year in the trade person making the decision that by process of elimination, e.g. new oil = having problems. Some people willnot have problems, but seeing this batch at my dads, other local garages, people on here and other forums... its persuaded me never t use it ever, so yes, its deffinately ok to blame the oil:rolleyes:
