Neston youse!
Multipla is in for servicing as we speak and the guy has phoned me up with a long list of things wrong (n)

Off to get the full list and discuss it with him now, the oil sump needs replacing and he has quoted £450 - Does this sound right or sound like a rip-off ?

I'll post up the list of defects later.... :(

Sounds like a main dealer price!

An alternative is to find someone breaking a multipla and see if the sump is any good. E-bay often have listings for sumps for other cars so might be worth trying there. Does the Multipla have sump gasket???? or is it just RTV sealant?

The sump has instant gasket goo not an actual gasket, i had to remove the gearbox to take mine off.
Well it may be possible to just break the bolts and move it slightly as it only needs about 10mm clearance it think.
There is 2 bolts hidden behind the flywheel you see.

Sounds like a main dealer price!

Yep, the guy said he could only get the sump from a fiat dealer

Here's the list of 'issues' he found....

Oil Cooler Pipe badly corroded - £127.88 to replace

Timing Belt needs replacing - £239.44

Replace radiator £297.88
+ Antifreeze £26.25
+ £1.39 to dispose of it ? :nutter:

NSR Brake Shoe Adjuster seized (held in place with zip ties apparently from it's previous owner ) - £52.66 to replace adjuster

Wheel needs re-balancing £5.99

So all in all a grand total of £721.37

Apart from the brake adjuster, I'm not inclined to race out and replace it all....

Sump - It's only a small leak, I haven't filled it with oil since I've had it so it can't be that bad

Radiator - Only filled about 1cm into the expansion tank of coolant since I've had it, so again, although it's a bit battered, not a rush job

Timing belt - don't know bugger all about these or even what they do

Are these fair prices.... or a rip-off ?

Cheers all

Try phoning your local Unipart for a price comparison, then phone Halfords for a laugh!

I got a handrake cable for £12 as opposed to about £45 from FIAT - it means I can replace is several times when it seizes!!!!

The timing belt need replacing at 60k and is a wise investment as you risk the valves hitting the pistons if it brakes and that tends to mean new engine or at least new valves and work to the head.

Timing belt is definately important, if that goes it's a new engine for certain!

Nearly all the cars we break have no engine due to cambelt going!

Unfortunately the next one has no sump  bottomed out I suppose, otherwise could possible have helped you :)
