General Oil separator converted to oil catch tank

Hi everyone,just a quick ?.
I wanted to do away with the oil separator and covert it into an oil catch tank.just wondered if anyone had done this conversion.
The design of the oil separator on the abarth 500/abarth punto tjet and the bravo tjet is the worsed,which is why I want to do this mod.
Any help,guides would be a big help.

hi, i just 'tune' separator by filling output to manifold with silicone (RTV?) and use hose for other one which runs down under engine bay. Its basically conversion to atmospheric vent system, it works fine - no oil leaks from engine.

I blocked the hose to the manifold with a piece of iron rod.
Added a catch can to the other hose.

My version of new oil separator:

Hose that goes from separator to intake manifold is connected to gauge pressure sensor via 10mm-to-6mm adapter.
I made from aluminium adapter that goes on vapour outlet, its 20mm to 13mm.

Gas entering the filter is set in rotary motion and directed towards the bottom, so oil is extracted

Looks ok.. but is really small , it will be filled with water condensation in a few thousand km.

I've replaced the OEM separator recently with a new one, and still have the catch can installed in the hose to the turbo inlet.


Every 1000km the catch can has about 100-200 ml condensation in it (very little oil, but a lot of water).. now in the nice hot summer. In the winter or spring/autom raini cold season the catch can gets about 700-1000ml every 1000 km.

Long cold hoses and vole metal OCC generates even more od that water. My is plastic on warm engine, with very short hoses

It is unbelievably that your engine produce 1 litre of water on 1000km on cold weather

Not only cold weather, i've seen it a few times once in the fall on a wet rainy day when i did more that 1k km.. the catch can was full.
Then in a warm-ish wet/rainy winter .. this time in 3 trips.. full..still around 1k km.

Believe it or not, just don't let a catch can get to full as to suck big water drops into the turbo and damage it.

Hi guys, looking for help installing a catch can on my fiat bravo 1.4 tjet. The oil separator membrane is messed up, and its difficult getting a replacement in SA, as the bravo/alfa brand isnt strong. Due to this ive decided to get a catch can. below is the catch can I'm getting but I'm not sure which hoses go where, and which hoses I must block.
