Technical Oil problems

Hello everybody,
I have a problem with my '89 Tipo 1.6 DGT. It seems to lose oil through the gange (I hope this is the word- the place where you verify the oil level) hole. What can be the cause of this problem. A mechanic said something like "the packing rings are warn out". What do you think?

So it's blowing oil out the dipstick tube? Sounds like a head gasket failure (cylinder to oilway) or worse a failed piston ring.

Thanks for the reply that's what I was afraid of...but...c'est la vie ... new piston rings (that if the cylinders are OK...else...new engine???:bang: ).Once again 10x a lot for the reply.

Can also be caused by blocked breather pipe, oil pump return valve stuck. Get the oil pressure checked. Oh and can be caused also by a worn dipstick bung[cheap fix].
