Newbie here, please be gentle. Daughter has 500x 2016 1.6 multi jet. Had a short service by local garage. Shortly thereafter display showed 'change oil' warning. Long story short - eml, limp mode, no codes on a generic reader. Garage says needs new oil pressure sensor and says it's a main dealer job. Thoughts please.

I think your problem is that the garage did not do the "Oil Change" reset.

This procedure updates the parameters relating to the engine oil quality in the control unit.
This procedure is necessary every time the engine oil is replaced on vehicles with DPF filter and when the 'low oil pressure' led blinks in the dashboard.

On Fiats with diesel engines there is the normal "Service" reset and ALSO and "Oil Change" reset. The oil change reset is a setting in the engine's ECU and not in or associated with the Service control unit.

You need to get this Oil Change reset dones a soon as possible. You may also have to have a "forced regeneration" done if the car continues in limp mode after the reset has been done.

There are pople here who have the diagnostic kit (MES being common) who can do the reset and force regen if required. Alternatively you need to find a garage or delaer who has the diagnostic equipment to do what is required.

For pople with MES who are willing to help then look at the following link for soemone in your area.

Possibly this person will be able to help.
