Technical Oil light

Hi guys long time since i posted.

Resently fix my oil leak which was the sump not being put on enough sealer and tuned my idle to save move juice cos it was running bit high. not to much though. FIRE engine (999cc/1108cc) S.A. make.

Now my oi light seams to be on as i pull away but flickers as the revs increase and then finally disappears, just to come back when iam at a red light again.

Should I be worried? Any help?

Its normal in older higher milage engines due to wear on the oil pump. What mileage has your car done

:yeahthat: Could also be a failing oil pressure switch, although with it happening after you have had the sump off is it possible that you damaged the oil pickup when removing/refitting the sump?

With the FIRE engine, I have had the problem where the screws on the back of the oil pump are loose, allowing the pressure to leak out the edges of the backplate. Can get to these screws once the sump is off.

Hey thx for the replies guys... Happy new year and my you be blessed.

I dont mind buying a new oil pump and screws to fix the problem. My main concern is that is it ok to drive it like this because there is not much oil leak only a little coming from the gear box side of the sump where i managed to apply insufficient sealant cos i didn't really pull the sump of totally only loosen the screws and tugged in the sealer. I know lazy guy hey? Hehe the dip stick seems to be fine in regards to oil levels.

Will have to get it up on a pit or ramp to totally remove it because its realy a hassel to work under the car with a jack and stands.

how low is the idle? my cinq is currently idling about 600 (a tad too low) and the oil light flickers on and off, once revs are upto a more sensible 700-800 it goes straight out, id check your idle isnt just too low.
