Over the last couple of weeks i've had an intermittent problem.
In the beginning it was a small amount of kangarooing coupled with the injector light coming on for a few seconds until it sorted the problem.
Solution? I added redex! This seemed fine for a couple of days with no repeat of the previous problem, then.........
It's gotten a heck of a lot worse, especially when cold, seems to sort it self out when it warms up.
Your opinions please. I'm praying it's dirt in the fuel lines/injectors rather than needing new injectors.

Had the same problem

.. on my 1.8 and tried exactly the same thing with the redex :)

Problem came back so I took her in for a diagnostic on Tuesday and they've told me it's the temperature sensor, which is a pretty cheap part thankfully - hopefully it's the same with yours, a diagnostic should tell you for sure.

I also needed a new idle control valve, but think that's unconnected.

Thanks Ralph, at least you've given me a little light at the end of the tunnel mate ;)

For what its worth when my injectors went it was the opposite to what you describe.

It would be fine for a couple of minutes from cold but after that ran like a bag of spanners with the light on which would go off for 2-3 seconds every now and then.

Hope you get a cheap fix.

The problem may have been the REDEX.

I have been told that redex is good for cleaning stuff, but sometimes can dislodge larger particles and they get stuck in the Injectors.

So I'm told anyway

As Ralph suggests, before doing anything else get a proper Fiat diagnostic done (@£40). I know they're not cheap, but you'll then know the exact fault.
Obviously don't let the Fiat place repair the fault (unless you've lots of money). Get it to a good independant garage or DIY.

Good luck.

Stuart.

Is it possible to get a diagnostic done anywhere but a fiat dealer?
It's just that after they didn't disclose all the faults with the car when i bought it i kinda swore the robbing gits wouldn't get another penny off me.

Yes, it is possible to get a diagnostic done at any garage with the diag equipment.

Ironically, a once had a Punto with a misfiring problem. Got it done for free by FIAT, who couldn't find anything wrong.

Took it to my local garage, who found the problem right away - Lamda Probe.

Thanks RR (and everyone else who responded), i'll start canvassing the local garages for the best price.

Mine seems OK now

With the replaced ICV and temp sensor, have now done a couple of hundred miles with no lights or kangarooing.

Good luck!
