BLOODY B*******D'S!!!!

A11 going into Narridge today came round a corner, downhill and there hiding behind the large junction sign out of view until the last seconds was the orange "safety camera van" with a man operating the damn thing.

Not only was that the sneakiest position they could possibly have for it - but apart from a standard off/on junction there is no danger there at all. The spot is perfect for catching drivers wallets on the way past though.

I "think" I was only doing 75 but I braked first checked 2nd - and I WASNT driving particuarily fast, I was early, the road was dry, it was a fantastic morning and I was the only thing on the road... if the bastards nick me I am doomed to a ban for one but I will definently kick up a fuss!

My nerves are shot now - I drive so many miles and its affecting my ability to drive as I am constantly looking for cameras and watching my speed - not the road anymore.

A very depressed Nige

What is the limit there? National?

Cheeky feckers zapping people on a dry day, they should be out infront of schools, playgrounds or city centres or following smee around ;)

Oh no Nige, not again! :(

At this rate i will have to visit you for lunch ;)

I might have seen that one this morning Nige. I was on my way home from Papworth hospital about 10am and there was one sitting on the bridge above the A11 outside Norfolk Constabulary HQ in Wymondham. I had a guy in a Prelude up my arse and a **** in a Ford Mundane thinking he was Ayrton Senna. I was doing over the limit, although not 100% sure how much, probably 80-85. I hit the brakes the moment the van popped into view, so I think I was ok, so did the Prelude, but the Mondeo just sailed past and under doing 85+ LOL ! ;)
Like you say, dry morning, not a lot of traffic about, should be outside a school or other accident blackspot, not on a straight piece of dual carriageway. Lazy fooker only had to drive 30 seconds from his base to the bridge.

The Xmas party fund obviously needed topping up LOL ;)

Cut down your stress level, Nige.
Watch your speed, then there will be no need to be on the lookout for cameras!

Are you making a claim that drivers driving within the speed limit are a liability because they are not concentrating on the road, just their speedos?

No, what I was saying was to I have to keep watching the speedo to ensure I am not speeding. The difference between OK and a ban is 2 or 3mph for me now. I drive an average of 42,000 miles a year which is stressfull enough without having to watch the speed all the time. Keeping the speed down is fine but when the speed creeps up to 75 on a dual carriadgeway and then you get nicked its just a mare.
I got nicked a few weeks ago for doing 95 in a 70 - fair cop and I asked for no sympathy - just annoyed I got nicked. Thsi time I was driving slowly, just meandering along 75ish on a dry dual carraidgeway with excelent visability and nothing around me. I was concentrating on the junction and looking for anything coming off or on - not on the ****** sitting on the bridge with the camera - thats what pisses me off - so now I concentrate on watching the speedo and the bridge and ******** to anyone coming on or off.
I have the snooper set at an overspeed warning of 70mph now so it beeps regardless :(
I have been done 7 times now - which is once every 96,000 miles so its not like I am a continual criminal - if you drive the miles I do each year then you would be nicked now and again. Its just unfortunate that I have accumulated a few more points in a short period of time - like 9 in 3 weeks!

I feel for ya Nige, I have been banned 3 times, all for speeding, 2 were for doing over 100 on the motorway, they were just a one month ban, hefty fine, one month is pretty small fry, that is copeable. It's the totting up, I was the same as you, driving shed loads of miles for work, got caught 3 times in about 6 months, then was O.K for a while, but got caught again well within the 3 years, I got 6 months and £500 fine, I appealed cos I needed the car for work, they cut it to 3 months and gave me an extra £250 :(

3 of my speedings were 42,43 and 43 in a 30, all during the day, the coppers all said about not being able to stop if a child ran out, I argued about it being schooltime and there were no kids, but it fell on deaf ears. I have a daughter myself now, so I don't speed in built up areas as much now. The las one I was doing 96 on the M11 :(

You have my sympathies Nige. Been there, done that, didn't like it, didn't buy the T-Shirt.

:( sorry to hear that nige

i am sure there is a poor student out there that could do with some spare cash, slip them a few hundred notes and hey presto they were driving !

it will cost you about £100 per point last check plus u pay fine but better then banned ??

invest in a road angel mate i would if i were doing that milage a year
