I thought that I'd take the Custard Tart on a long journey today. Tunbridge Wells to Sevenoaks and back.

Disaster. 2 miles from home this evening, POP! Down to one cylinder, try to continue, engine then gives up. Fortunately, able to coast into a petrol station.

Looked under engine cover, one of the plugs has popped out.

Awaiting the AA man, so don't know if the thread has stripped.

I may be in the market for a cylinder head...

Probably not, they do sometimes unscrew if not firmly tightened on first installation.

If the damage is limited to the plug thread just get a helicoil fitted, start by removing the head and checking the valve seats for burning first.

This should work . We've done this in the past.
