Been looking for some decent/stable software to edit digital camcorder(DV) movies. I keep coming back to Pinnacle Studio 8 but have heard loads of bad things regarding bugs with this program. I don't want to do anything fancy, just edit and save as mpeg2 format then burn to disc. I don't want to spend any more that £50.
Any recommendations anyone,
Gcol

p.s. sorry for any inconvienience to anyone who has no interest in this topic.

hi,

Well for £50 your not going to get much, sorry an all that!

Ive got adobe premiere, its the ******** - proper professional kit. Its a murder to learn, but once you get to know what your doing its fantastic.

You can always aquire a copy of certain sources if you had that in mind.

I do hope your not suggesting I use Kazaa and download Adobe Premiere 7 Pro? Dear me. Anyway I've tried that already - the bloody file didn't work!

Incidently who the f**k is gonna pay over £400 for some software to edit a bit of video? The camcorder didn't cost that!

I'll have to try a different file off Kazaa then. By the way what version of Premiere are you running? If 6 or 6.5 how well does it work with XP - I believe that version 7 is for XP but will earlier versions work with it?

Cheers,
Gareth

Re: Tut tut John

trry emule, it seems better for things like that. At work i just use the software that came with the dazzle video edtor thing, very basic but easy as hell to use and will do all sorts of file types. Only thing i can't do with it which i would like to do is a seperate sound track over the top. But if you just want to do quick vids for presentations like i do then it's great!

Thanks Alan

I'll give them both a look.

Re: Thanks Alan

Hi,

Yeah ive got ver 6 of premiere, its fine with win2k and xp. Although you can't output directly to mpg2, you have to output to avi format then use a video convertor like Tmpeg to convert it. Or you can video stream it from premiere through an encoder.

Give me your email and ill send you some 'places' on the net that you can get it from.

Thanks John

E-mail is [email protected]

Just trying to download version 7 (808Mb) at the moment from that e-mule place - only 1 day 10 hrs to go...lol, and that's with broadband!

Re: Re: Thanks John

Also consider uleads stuff. I've used it for a few things and it seems OK, and reasonably cheap.
www.ulead.com
Theres a trial download available.
Or serif do a movie editing package for £80
www.serif.co.uk

Hope that helps

Nick

Thanks Nick but....

I got some Ulead software(Ulead 4) with my Sony Digy Camcorder and it's the pits - that's why I was lookinmg for something else.
On a lighter note the download of Adobe Premiere 7 Pro worked a treat and is now installed - just got to learn how to use it.

Thanks to all that replyed,

Gcol
