General Odd turn signal issue

Folks, I'm new to the Forum therefore my apologies if this is covered in another thread, but i could not find it.

I've recently picked up a beauty 1971 500L, fully restored however there is an odd occurrence with my turn signals: If my headlights are on (regular or high beam) the turn signals no longer work. When I turn off the headlights, magically they return to normal.

Earth problem, check earths headlamps.

Update: As i started with the ground/earth checks, I swapped a battery and turns out that this was the cause. Definitely feel like an amateur, however, it is odd to me that the battery dropped off so quickly.

never the less, i did notice through this that many of the wiring contacts need to be cleaned/replaced.
