Technical Odb 11 ?

Hiya guys,

I'm new in here, and the owner of a Ducato Maxi 2.3 120 x250.

I have had the van since new in July 07. I bought it as an import through Motorpoint so I only got 2 years warranty rather than the 3 offered on UK vans. Anyway the van has let me down twice, both times running very rough, loads of black exhaust smoke, and both times after leaving the van for about half an hour, it has cured itself. Even to the point that the engine fault light has gone out.
It did this again yesterday morning, so I have decided to get myself a diagnostic kit but I a little unsure as to whether the van is ODB11 or not, and if it is can anyone recommend a kit/system to get? I have my eye on these

I had one set of updates earlier last year, but because the van is an import, they seem a bit lax at telling me, this is more than a simple software problem though.

Is the MIL light on. yes or no. If no then you will not see much. Have you got loss of power low down, with a the turbo only coming in at 3500rpm. If yes , diagnostic tool may give you a clue.

Well, I know for sure that the 2006 Ducato 2.8JTD is NOT ODB-11 compliant. Spent money on a scantool (http://scangauge.com/) for mine and got very mixed results. And I have read somewhere that the newer Ducatos are ODB-11 compliant.

I haven't got any warning lights on at all. After sitting and waiting for a while, when I tried to start the van again the light stayed out and the van has run perfectly ever since.

I would like to get hold of a tool so next time it does it I can plug in and get some idea of what the problem is.

Where does the Odb 11 plug into any idea??
