Hello,

I have just purchased a VGate Icar Pro 2s Obd reader.

I know everyone says get fiat MultiEcuscan but I only need basic DTC codes and live data.

Does anyone know if the vgate will be compatible before I open the sealed package and will be thinking of using Car Scanner App with it.

Thanks.

Hello,

Every car manufacturer makes it hard to use the cheap obd readers to avoid some problems. And to earn more money :D

It's possible you'll be able to connect only to the ECU and probably read live data. But I'm afraid the errors given will be the 4 characters one (like P0340) and not P0340-72. I don't know when they changed it on a panda.

I'm using a dedicated FIAT / Ford bluetooth interface with MES on a laptop and with Torque Light on the android phone. I also have Car Scanner, but I have not tested it in the FIAT, as I don't wanna mess with the settings for my daily car.

What is your fiat/ford Bluetooth interface?

Viaken STN 1170. They also have the newer model, the STN 2120. The website lists the new one for the Ford only, but they confirmed to me on a phone call it still works on the FIATs.

The 1170 was listed for both FIATs and Fords.

What would an English equivalent be?

Because the Fiat codes are very Fiat specific, and because some can only be read by altering which pins in the plug are crossed over to access some codes (thats what the yellow adaptor cable does - it crosses the connections over between some of the pins between the car and the plug-in reader), you really are best off using MES and a plug-in reader that supports it (such as the vLinker MC+ for Bluetooth). Spending less on a generic set up will, in teh end not save money, I'm sorry to say. Talk to Gendan.

How does the v linker MC+ Bluetooth work with the adapter cables for Multiecuscan?

Simple. You plug the bluetooth unit straight into the car's ODB socket for nearly all code readings.

But, if (and only if) MES says 'use the yellow cable' then you plug the yellow cable into the car's ODB socket, and plug the bluetooth unit into the other end of the yellow cable. It really is that straightforward. I'll go and take a photo...

I don't think I have ever needed to use the yellow cable :)

The other cables are never needed at all, so far as I can tell (Gendan recommended only needing the yellow one on my Panda...)

Perfect

Thank you
If you could guide me through the process that would be great :).

And the v linker should work on my other car too, a Citroen?

Four photos:
1 - the ODB socket in the car
2 - the Bluetooth reader in that socket
3 - one end of the yellow lead in the car’s socket, and the other end ready for the Bluetooth unit to be plugged into
4 - the Bluetooth unit plugged into the yellow plug

(Note the ‘yellow lead’ from Gendan is actually black: just the plug at one end is yellow)

Thank you.

Know why Amazon are selling 2 versions at different prices what look like the same product? Is this the one you have?
One more time (said this twice now). Do NOT buy from Amazon! Many of the ECU readers from there do not work (often they are poorly-made Chinese copies that are wired wrong)

The best place is Gendan, a UK-based Fiat MES specialist. You can buy online from them using this link: https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VGTEMC.html

(To answer the question : Amazon is just an 'online shopping mall'. The two units you show are the same but sold from different shops inside the Amazon empire, and those two sellers have chosen to sell at different prices, just like Tesco and Sainsburys charge different prices for some things.)
