hi my mk2 punto has a aftermarket jvc stereo with ipod connection, it has

alpine type-r front door speakers (not amped),
2 Vibe 6x9 500W speakers amped to 300W per 6x9
1500Watt Sony Xplod Subwoofer
1500Watt Kenwood amp with LPF

i dont think its as loud as it should be, ive turned the gain up but still isnt as loud. what could i do to make the car LOUDER!!!!?

It's hard to tell without actually hearing it.
First of all get rid of the 6x9's and amp up the front. ( plenty if reasons if you have a quick search)
I would say put the sub in a well built ported enclosure. Then bolt that onto a MDF false floor that is tightly bolted to the cars floor. But TBH your best bet is to get a better sub an amp. Then do the box and floor.

Sound deadening the boot, rear quaters and front doors will help both volume and quality.

You say your using a JVC unit. Does that mean it only has one RCA rather than a full pair. If so then use a y splitter and use both inputs on your amp.

Yeah but your 6x9's are amped and in the rear and your door speakers are in the front and just using the HU's amp so they will be poor.

Ditch the 6x9's and amp the FRONT speakers, after all, you sit there, not in the back.

As for the bass, if you want more BANG for your buck, as stated, upgrade to a more powerful sub or get a decent ported enclosure. Ported enclosures give the illusion of sounding louder as the bass is more powerful and punchy.

But yeah the key to any quality install is deadening and some decent amped front speakers.

Are the Type R speakers components. If so they will easily take the amp you have which will be about 60w RMS per channel.
Which amp is it?

Just so you know you want the Mids and treble to come from the front. The treble should almost sound like the singer is on the bonnet and the mids should sound like they are coming from the middle of your dash. The bass you want to sound like it is coming from behind you. This is called sound staging. Doing this correctly will give you “MUSIC”. What you have at the moment isnt music its a random mess of noises that isnt pleasurable to the ear at any volume.

Phasing shouldn't effect the volume. The sub should be obvious if it's out you. Speakers may sound wrong if one in a pair is out but you would have to have a good ear. You will often get a little more mid bass wiring the Mids out. some people actually wire the mid in the passenger door out to even out the stage.
