Hi,

I have changed my manifold which went fairly well. The problem I have now is that the Multipla starts but idles like its running on 2 pistons. Then it wont even start, etc. It comes up with an Engine fault which it ha done for a while but also a "Alternate Fault".

Mine has an aircon so I loosened and tighten that but I dont think its that. It sounds like something to do with distribution.

Does anyone have any experience with this and ideas of how to fix it?

Thanks

After some research I found out its possibly the catalytic converter. The car "would not start", idled very erratically, and would cut out after running for about 5 seconds.

It seems the car was surviving without it with all exhaust emissions going out the 4 cracks in the manifold. Once I replaced the manifold the holes were sealed and there was no room for emissions to escape possibly sending the exhaust fumes back into the engine and probably causing some sort of compression issue. How I found this out was by removing the oil cap and exhaust fumes came out of the outlet. Odd but true.

The solution is I now need to replace the catalytic converter to solve the issue. In the interim I can release the catalytic converter and leave a gap around the gasket which will release the fumes and get the car running. Not ideal and only for a day while the part arrives but it at least gave me an idea where the issue is.

Hope this guides someone else.
