NoS / Speed / Help / Punto / only got 2 weeks

I have only two weeks to make my Punto mk1 60s Team as fast as I possibly can.
I am going to USC thing at santa pod for a joke and need to try and beat someone who is there (believe me, meet him and u would want to beat him). He drives a 1.4 MG ZR.

NOS was what I was thinking, but I aint got that sort of money, has anyone got a NOS kit I could possibly lend for one weekend? 6th-8th august?

I will pay for rental of it. Or does anyone know where I can pick up a cheap second hand one?

Any other ideas to make a temporary speed increase on quarter-mile?

You've got a lot to make up, your car is 4 seconds slower to 60 than his (the most basic ZR) and has 12mph higher top end.

I can do them quite easily in my ickly punto, love it too

You could always remove the doors, boot, interior, and anything else that bolts or screws on

That should make it faster, but also quite draughty

IIRC, Kent dont do a cam for the 60 engine.
Could slap in a cam from a 75 engine!

nah toms using the cam in his engine

lose the seats and any trim you can lose, it'll still be close even as a 4 sec difference in the 0-60, my cinq stuck with a 2litre nova till i went to 3rd lol, 4 secs between us in the end

no, the cam helps - but you'd need MPI as well to get the extra bit of power out of it

yeah, iirc the punto75 is very similar if not the same as some performence cams you can buy for the 1108 FIRE unit.

you looked at fuel aditives, dunno how much difference they make. bit of avaition fuel in the mix may help (not on its own tho!)

remove the airbox/filter completely (for the run anyway) remove a headlight, and duct air onto the throttle body.

would spraying pure oxygen from a cylinder into /near the throttle body help you lot reckon, from a bottle it'd be cold and should help some.

i think theres a way to adjust the fuel pressure.. but ive no idea how on that one, sorry. pete will know.

other than that, go on a diet and strip everything out the car

hey some good ideas there arc.

So far I am going to use a fuel additive thing, they are £15, and I was going to totally empty my tank of petrol and use optimax or equivalent, take my sound system out (i know he wont do that). I will use one of those 10k decarb sprays you spray into the air intake to clean the engine the day before.

Will try and rig something up with your idea of pure oxygen into the intake and around engine bay.

dont understand the removal of a headlight?

could remove the filter for a short space of time i.e. just the race. good idea. cheers.

Just totally strip the full thing and drive up and smoke him otherwise I'm afriad those sprays and fuel won't help you much, they will only make your engine run closer to quoted spec.

Sorry to sound scathing but 1.4ZR's beat me down the quarter when driving a 99 1.6 16v VX Astra and that has more ommph than the Punto so could be in for a pasting otherwise.

Only other thing I could suggest is let your tyres down a couple of PSI for better off the line grip and also run with the smallest wheels possible ie space savers!

lol, but the extra grip off the line will be hindered as theres more resistance after the off the line, if you want extra grip off the line, do a lil burnout before the line (i used that technique - bit too much probably, but im sure it helped lol

)

headlight removal is to get more cold air to the engine, the FIRE engines love cold air
