From where? What kind of knock? Any warning lights?

no lights coming on knocking from the bottom end you can feel the vibration from the air filter housing bolts

just started it then and the knocking sound has gone but i can hear a rubbing sound like something is catching somewhere

Hmm, long shot but check the cambelt tensioner and the cambelt cover.

cambelt snapped now luckily i was in my drive when it happend so im having a go a putting a 1242 in at the weekend
