As you may have read on another post, I had the TINIEST of bumps this morning into the back of a car on a roundabout but it's caused a fair bit of damage to my car. Looks like i'm going to be in need of a new bonnet, HGT or Marea bumper and a Marea drivers side headlight. And unfortunately Sy, the grill idea we had is now out the window, sorry mate :( Think it's twisted or bent some of the structure behind the bumper too so i'm going to need to get it straightening out. I don't know how it's done so much damage seeing as his car only had the tiniest of scratches. I wasn't expecting there to be any damage at all! Just got out of the car to say sorry and saw that :( Boooooo.

Same thing happened to me back in 2000, I ran the Bravo into the back of an escort at well under 10mph (no airbag deployment), his car looked untouched and mine looked like it'd smashed into a wall ... whole front end inc doors crumpled and a punctured radiator.

Thinking about it I dread to think how it'd have handled in a real smash.

I had a similar bump and mine crumpled, sooo annoying.

I may have a drivers side marea light for you if needs be

It's like it's made of cheese! I might be able to pop out the dents in the bumper though fortunately :) It's only the glass on the light that's broken so does anyone know if the glass from a Bravo light will fit? If not Stu, could you e-mail me please mate. [email protected].

Cheers
John

Sorry to hear it mate. Seems these cars crumple easily.

Does your marea have a abarth front bumper? Also is it for a Marea or has it been modified to fit?

It could be a good excuse to make it look like the one in my sig though...

I'm going to take it to a body shop hopefully this week to get a price on repairs. They might be able to repair the bonnet but if not then I'll definately be interested. I've got your e-mail add so will let you know as soon as possible. Cheers

Gutted for you John. I know how that feels and yes, they do seem to crumple easily I'm afraid. My front cross member had to be sorted. :(

thats bad luck mate sorry to hear, was looking good too, hope you get it sorted easily mate.

Cheers guys. It's come at a bad time aswell as I'd just booked a holiday with my girlfriend the evening before!! :( Al what did they have to do with the cross member? Is it welded or bolted on? Somethings bent as the drivers side of the bumper is litterally about 2mm from the tyre now!

sig1.jpg

It's welded mate but as long as it's not split it can be jigged out.

Well here is the damage. On first impressions it doesn't look too bad. I think I will need a new bonnet though which will be the most expensive thing including respraying. Fortunately I've found a site that sells cross members for £23 and the black bumper reinforcement for £12, and I can get it welded up at work if I can't get it bent back out :) Notice how far the rad has been pushed back! Any closer and the coolant hoses would've been melting on the heatshield during the journey home!
