non starter

my p reg 1.4 12v bravo refuses to restart after being switched off when it has warmed up eg at petrol station
the r.a.c said the fuel pump relay was at fault i had it changed problem still remains. its driving me mad any help welcome.

It turns over but won't fire? How old are the spark plugs and how many miles on the car?

tom bravo has 57000mls on clock and has just had full service and mot.after engine has cooled for approx 10 mins car starts !

Next time it refuses to start, take a spark plug out and see if its wet with fuel. I don't think its a fuel pump problem, it would not start again when its cold otherwise.

The options are:
1) Dodgey plug leads or coil (Fiats do seem very tempremental about good sparks)
2) Dodgey idle control valve
3) Dodgey engine temp sensor
4) Dodgey manifold temp sensor

If it idles ok then its probably not 2, if it runs ok when its hot then its probably not 3 or 4.

Same problem!

I have the same problem my car stops and refuse to start,after five minutes it starts like nothing happend.I left my car to fiat and they will plug it to a compiuter.Ill tell you when i get my car back later this week mate.............

went to the monkeys down at fiat and put it on the computer and said it came up with nod. and yes if you wait 5 min with out doing any think it go's what it all about

really pisses me off when i have people in the car cos you look like a tit.

Its not a particularly hard problem to fix, its either fuel or spark. Both a really quite easy to check. Its just most garage mechanics are thick as pigs**t and cannot think for themselves.

If there is no injection warning light on the dash then doing an ECU diagnostic will tell you sod all.
