Technical noises from starter motor

when i start the engine i hear noises like starter drive gear is grinding against the flywheel so the fork is not disengaging quickly enough. does it need greasing or replacement?

Put it apart, clean and grease everything, especially that part of shaft where gear is sliding. Also check brushes for wear

Sounds like the solinoid on the top of the starter may be begining to stick a bit. Best bet strip it down and clean and grease it up. hope that helps
