This 84 70s has 258,000km on it.
Goes well, or used to!:bang:
Yesterday, I went around a right hand corner and all of sudden clatter, clatter,
It sounded like the clutch thrust bearing had collapsed, or maybe a gearbox bearing, but no it wasn't!
This morning I took the gearbox out, first drained the oil and found what looks like a tooth from a gear on the drain plug!! :bang:
I have a later model Uno gearbox, bottom mount change, to fit in.
I already had a new clutch to go in, I did not know the clutch plate had different splines and the thrust bearing diameter was different.
So now I wait till tomorrow to get the right parts!
I am wondering which gear this tooth has broken off. The gearbox was good, no bearing noise, and good synchros, I was going to give it to a guy who has an 88 Uno with the same gearbox, and his has noisey bearings and the synchros are not much good.
How hard will it be to mix and match and make one good gearbox out of two?
