Hi We have a Y reg 1.6 multi, 91 thou on the clock.
When driving at speeds above 40 mph we occasionally get a squeeking noise which sounds as if it is coming from the passenger footwell.
It doesnt seem to be linked to the heater fan, as when the fan is turned off the noise continues, indeed it appears when the fan is switched off,
It doesnt increase or decress with road or engine speed, Ive tried dipping the clutch when it happens and its still there.
Sounds like a squeeky hamsters wheel ?
Any ideas please.

Could it be the Anti Roll Bar (ARB) bush on that side?
Is it an intermittent squeak, or does it sound like something rotating, like a rubbing brake pad?
Squirt a bit of WD40 onto the ARB bushes and see if it's still there.

It is intermitant as such, only happening once in a while.
It sounds as if it is something rotating, but not at engine speed or road speed and it doesnt change when either speeds up or slows down.
It is definately either inside the car or just on the passengers side bulkhead.
could be something resonating, but it stops before you can trace it.
It doesnt do it whilst ticking over and short of laying upside down in the passenger footwell for a long trip finding it is gonna be hit and miss.

Try bouncing the left wing up and down while someone listens inside (or vice-versa).
Does it do it more on straights, or when turning/cornering, or both equally?

The left hand speaker in the door has double wiring fitted for the handsfree phone kit , could it be the wiring at the other end is coming into contact with something ? under the centre cupholder .

Just thinking about JTDman's reply reminded me. I had a phone charger plugged into the accessory socket below the cup holder, and if it wasn't pushed very firmly in place it gave a vibrating squeak from down there.

Dunno if thats any help!
