I have a strange problem with my 1.2 1999 Bravo.
It occurs most prominently when it is wet (e.g. raining). The heavier the rain, the worse the problem seems to be.
When I start the car, it has a very low power at the beginning and the engine sounds strange. I am not sure if one cylinder is misfiring or not but this may very well be the case. After about 10 minutes of painfully low power, it suddenly kicks in at higher revs (I need to drive it at higher rev, otherwise it stalls) and as time passes it starts working fine. If I switch on and off, it is all fine again but the problem is back the next day. Idling is slightly erratic from cold start, but that is a commong Fiat thing, isn't it?
I have:
- Reset the computer by taking the battery out.
- Checked that there is no water going in the distributor ends.
Some time ago, I took it to garage to sort out some water leak problem. They said that it is the head gasket is probably blown but I have driving it for more than a year like that - I have seen no signs of mixture of oil & water and one of those radiator leaks additives pretty much sorted the water leak out.
Do you have any recommendation what else I can check. I don't want to go to a garage, give them the car and tell them - wait till it rains and take it for a drive. I did it once and it just happened to work then.
Thanks.
