General no gears

hi, I have a 2001 diesel Multipla. Occasionally selecting reverse was grinding, and from last night I can't select any gear when the engine is on - anyone has any idea?

can you get gears with the engine off, if so it sounds clutch related

Do you hear any noise when pressing the clutch pedal when the car is idle ?
