Hey just sold my bravo hgt and got a 1996 16vt coupe :), but me being me, i rushed into not realised that there is no alarm fob. Is this going to be an issue?? Can i get it replaced?? and whats sort of price?? thanks

The alarm system is a Meta. Yes you can get a new fob. According to my notes from when I had a Coupe this is what is.

Alarm is Meta M99/11Amykro TFA
Alarm remote is Meta M100RC

Meta Alarm Remote Programming Instructions May 1999
(re-typed from original instruction sheet, with minor enhancements)

M100RC
------

CANCELLING EXISTING TX AND INTRODUCING NEW/REPLACEMENT TX

On receiving your new/replacement transmitter, follow procedure below.

1. To introduce a new TX at least ONE of the original TX's must be
functioning correctly.

2. Using a valid TX, carry out a series of 16 activation (deactivations one
after another) with less than 8 seconds between each activation.

3. After the 16 successive activation/deactivations the system will cease
arming/disarming. At this point, the unit has been cleared of all other
TX memories EXCEPT the one used for the 16 successive operations.

4. WITHIN 8 SECONDS activate any other TX's required to operate the system.
(If the TX is slightly out of synchronisation it may need to be operated
twice). The control unit signals TX acceptance by changing status (from
arm to disarm or vice versa) ONLY ONCE, after which it stops responding
to that particular TX. At this point the TX just used has been added to
the list of accepted TX's.

5. Repeat step 4 for each additional TX required.

6. When you have finished introducing all the other TX's required, allow at
least 8 seconds to elapse. From this moment all and ONLY the TX's that
have just been operated during steps 2 and 4 will operate the system.
ALL OTHER memories/TX's will be deleted.

NOTE: On instigating this procedure, only the TX used in step 2 and the
TX's used in step 4 will operate the system. Therefore, you must
ensure that you have ALL the TX's required to operate the system at
hand BEFORE step 2 is completed. This includes any ORIGINAL TX STILL
REQUIRED TO OPERATE THE SYSTEM.

For security and programming reasons, please record and keep all
transmitter codes.

Having posted I realise that you appear not to have an existing remote fob. I think/can't rember if the Coupe alarm is able to be set/un-set from inside the car via a switch. If not then you will need to contact a specialist.

Your car should be registered with the NVSR (National Vehicle Security Register). From them via you Fiat dealer you may be able to retrieve the alarm code number (NOTE! not the immobiliser PIN number for this problem). With that info the the UK Meta alarm suppilers should be able to provide you with a pre-programmed remote fob.

Wish you luck, otherwise you will have to buy something new.

Ok thanks, that helps, i will go see a speacislt at weekend. I have got the key for the alarm switch in the glove box, but if i turn it, will the alarm go strait off?? didnt wanna turn it incase sumat happends

Hmmmm. I don't remember a key switch in the glove box, but I am getting old and senile. Most Coupe alarms were fitted at the import docks as part on the import process. Pretty shoddy fit as well. My controller unit was just stuffed up above the throttle pedal and kept falling down on and beneath the pedals. I moved the unit to the dash behind the removable panel on the end of the dash on the drivers side.

I also did a quick Google for the remote control M100RC and found items for sale on eBay for less than £10.

16V and early 20V cars used a scorpion alarm. The later cars used the meta system BTW.

My 1997 20VT has a scorpion alarm. The changeover was 1998.

You will ned an alarm box that fits under the dash above the fusebox and remotes that go with it.

Try contacting Joe (countrycruising) on FCCUK he usually has coupe bits for sale.

Just registered to say thanks Nick for posting the instructions above - one of my Punto key fobs hasn't been working for months since my toddler managed to get hold of the other one and played with it. (She must have pressed the button 16 times and thus disabled the other alarm fob).

I came across this thread via google, followed these instructions and they solved the problem. Thanks again for posting.
