it's a dummy by rupert murdoch to try and take a little sting out of this, the news of the world is just a brand name used by news international, therefore nothing has been axed bar a name.

As has been said, it's a despicable turn of events and those responsible should be the ones being punished rather than employees of the same (admittedly not the highest of quality) paper they worked for. One of Murdoch's many papers going belly up (in name at least) doesn't necessarily mean justice has been done.

Hopefully the resulting enquiries actually get somewhere and the ones at the heart of the various scandals are made to pay for their indiscretions, though I'm not sure that word covers what they've been accused of doing.

the general public have no memory and no conscience, are they going to boycott all or Murdochs crooked empire because of this? are they buggery.

the only reason this "axing" has happened is because the advertisers dont want their name associated with the NOTW brand name. they havent taken sponsorship out of any other news international brands

it's all getting pinned on a name rather than those people ultimately responsible

the whole thing is just one stinking PR spin machine
