Hi all.ee new to this site. Looking for some help on why my car keeps stalling now and then when coming to stop or slowing down at junction or traffic lights. Cheers.

Does it happily restart afterwards
or do you have to wait 5 - 10 mins for it to restart?

If it happily restarts, i'd suggest cleaning the throttle butterfly valve, when they get gummed up, the throttle shuts, and the crap closes the "idle" gap completly and engine shuts off

This can be done easily with a wrag with a little WD sprayed on and a quick wipe

you'd be surprised what will come off

Ensure engine is off tho before doing work

Also check the mk2 / mk2b guides section, im sure there was a decent guide in there too

Hi. Yeah starts straight away so will try cleaning throttle butterfly valve. Will let you know how that goes. Thanks for info

Hi ziggy
Have give the throttle valve a good clean yesterday. There didn't seem to be that much dirt in there. Anyway car seem to be fine after took it for run yesterday but been out today and was doing same again. Seems to be at low revs. Can seem to die then kick back into life again after release clutch. Can be a bit jumpy in 1st too.
Any ideas of what to look at next???

on state of engine mileage last service etc

Hi.
It's 53 plate 1.2 16. 96k miles. Just had timing belt done. Not sure of last service but regularly according to docs. Runs well at motorway speed. Just this stalling probably at low revs/ coming to halt.
