Hi

Though I'd start my own newbie thread after accidently posting on someone elses

Just got a Multipla second hand, it's the 1.6 petrol ELX version and for a mpv it's surprisingly fun to drive. Look forward to chatting to people on here :)

Welcome, never judge a book by its cover!
Surprising how good they are behind the wheel as well as being a lot more practical than some MPV's, as regards to chatting to folk on the forum, be careful what you wish for - Multi's can be high maintenance!

The petrol multi is better than the diesel on the maintenance front, engines lighter, so there is less weight on the front springs, there is no EGR valve, turbo or glow plugs to go wrong. If I remember correctly, the only "common" fault is the injectors.. Ours never went though, before we changed the petrol for a diesel one.

Welcome :D

Thanks :) I'm used to high maintenance cars, my other being an old temperamental 300zx I rebuilt the engine and gearbox on that. Hopefully though the multipla will be a good and fun family car.

Matthen,
petrol engined versions would be easier on the front suspension which is a bit fragile, especially springs, bushes and droplinks!
Gearboxes are more prone to terminal failure on petrols whereas DMF and clutch issues are very much a diesel issue.

Basically... What i said then?

Interesting about the gearboxes though..
