Newbie with simple question to start

Hi guys, looking to upgrade from an 899 cinqs to an 1108 sporting.. been offered one with a broken cam belt (or so the AA man said!). Can antone tell me if this is a "safe" engine or whether there will be valve damage?

Essentially it is considered a 'safe' engine, but it depends on the circumstances surrounding the snapping.

I wouldnt imagine it is a very safe engine if it failed at 70mph on the M25 in the outside lane!

May be worth investigating further.

The cambelt kits are cheap enough and as well if the car is cheap enough it may be worth it for spares alone

welcome to here its a F.I.R.E. engine so should be OK have you got any more info on the circumstances of the cam belt breakage .. get yourself down to chinq section and interrogate the members down there ..best not to clutter welcome section with tech posts
